To test the functionalities of PowerPoint, each week in our all-hands meeting, our design team challenges Rob from our development team to recreate things they’ve found online… in PowerPoint. Using his keen knowledge of PowerPoint animations and the Morph tool, Rob almost always manages to make something awesome.
This week’s challenge
This week, Mia found an animated website that displayed an object following a set path as she scrolled down the page.
In PowerPoint, she thought it could be a creative way to illustrate a timeline or to plot a line chart. That’s where Rob comes in.
Rob created this effect by drawing a vector path with the line tool, then overlaying two separate animations – Wipe entrance and a Custom Motion Path. He carried out the same process on the object (in this case the red ball), allowing it to follow the motion on the path. He put the animation against a few different backdrops to demonstrate its versatility.
